How to Clean Your Acrylic Painting Brushes

You know art supplies aren't cheap. By now I'm sure you know that. Right? So some simple acrylic brush care is important. One important care tip is to rinse your brush often. Don't let one brush have paint in it while you start using another brush and another color. Great way to ruin a brush! Water, water, water, rinse, rinse, rinse. After you rinse your brush let the brush lay flat on a paper towel. Never let the brush stand upright in your brush container until the brush is dry.

Never leave a brush in a container of water for very long. In this day and age we are all so busy with many distractions! It is so easy to forget a brush in a water container and if the brush is made of wood and has a painted coating on the handle you can easily come back in a few hours only to find that the paint on the brush handle is now all cracked and split.
