 Using a color wheel will help a great deal with chosing and blending your painting colors for your paintings. Here is a super powerful tip for blending colors for your paintings.  If you want your color to be lighter don't use white unless you are wanting a pastel color.  Acrylic painting seems to be the most popular medium in painting. That is what is most requested in my studio and online. Some people prefer oils because they feel oils are more blendable and dry slower. True,  though that is also one of the biggest complaints of oil painters is that their paintings dry too slowly not allowing them to work on their paintings for longer periods of time.  Advantages of acrylic painting is the paints dry faster often allowing a painter to paint and entire painting in just one day.
